SMR-CTB Current Transformer Secondary Overvoltage Protector

Current transformers (CT) are widely used in power systems for primary measurement and control. During normal operation, the secondary side of the transformer is in an approximately short-circuited state, and the output voltage is very low. If the secondary winding is open-circuited during operation, or if the primary winding carries abnormal currents (such as lightning currents, resonant overcurrents, capacitor charging currents, inductive starting currents, etc.), it can generate overvoltages of several thousand volts or even tens of thousands of volts on the secondary side. This not only poses a risk to the insulation of the secondary system but can also cause the transformer to overheat and burn out, potentially endangering the safety of personnel. Using a CT secondary overvoltage protector can effectively prevent accidents caused by the open circuit of the current transformer secondary.

SMR-TBP overvoltage protector

The SMR-TBP series three-phase combined overvoltage protector is a high-performance overvoltage absorption device, suitable for power systems of 35kV and below. It is an advanced protective device that limits lightning overvoltage and operational overvoltage. It is mainly used to protect the insulation of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switches, busbars, motors, and parallel compensation capacitor banks from damage due to overvoltage. It can effectively protect against phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground overvoltages.
